But as you may recall from our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedisciplinedinvestor.com\/blog\/2010\/01\/13\/the-real-numbers-continuing-claims-hit-record-high\/\">recent post<\/a> on this subject, the numbers are not entirely accurate.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">First though, consider that the initial claims are holding steady above 400,000 per week. That is stubbornly high and saw a slight uptick this week. Some seasonality is to blame, but even so the combination of this and the recent non-farm payrolls are speaking to a high unemployment level for <!--more-->some time to come.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">According to \u00a0 the Congressional budget office , the U.S. \u00a0 unemployment rate will not drop below 8 pct until 2012, \u00a0 ( hat-tip <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stansberryresearch.com\/\">Frank Curzio<\/a>).
