{"id":6602,"date":"2009-12-11T15:24:43","date_gmt":"2009-12-11T20:24:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thedisciplinedinvestor.com\/blog\/?p=6602"},"modified":"2016-09-20T17:36:27","modified_gmt":"2016-09-20T21:36:27","slug":"economics-to-chew-on-advanced-retail-sales","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thedisciplinedinvestor.com\/blog\/2009\/12\/11\/economics-to-chew-on-advanced-retail-sales\/","title":{"rendered":"Economics to Chew On &#8211; Advanced Retail Sales"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The <strong>Advanced <\/strong>Retail sales came in much better than anticipated today &#8211; of course this is up for revision during the next few weeks. <a href=\"https:\/\/thedisciplinedinvestor.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/retailsales.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" title=\"retailsales\" src=\"https:\/\/thedisciplinedinvestor.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/retailsales.jpg\" alt=\"retailsales\" width=\"182\" height=\"94\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The report came out, as traders would call &#8211; <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>HOT<\/strong><\/span>. \u00a0 The headline number showed that month-over-month (advanced) retail sales increased by 1.3% against the expectations for 0.6%. \u00a0 Ex-Automobiles, they increased by 1.2% vs. the expectation of 0.4%.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Ex-Automobiles and Gasoline, sales increased by 0.6% vs. 0.2% estimated.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/thedisciplinedinvestor.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/Retail-MoM-20091211-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6603 aligncenter\" title=\"Retail MoM 20091211\" src=\"https:\/\/thedisciplinedinvestor.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/Retail-MoM-20091211-1.jpg\" alt=\"Retail MoM 20091211\" width=\"580\" height=\"322\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The real problem we saw was the reaction of the currency markets as they bid up the U.S dollar against the Euro by 0.82% by early morning. If that were not bad enough, the \u00a0 Japanese Yen is continuing to fall on the news as well.
