What Moved the NASDAQ 100 Yesterday

The top 10% of the NASDAQ 100 makes up 49% of the total index weighting. With Cisco (CSCO) down 7%, the top 10 contributed a -0.80% to the total return. This was just about half of the loss for the index on the day. Note that Apple (AAPL) still holds the biggest sway, coming in with a 11% weight and that helped to keep the index from seeing even more losses.

Overall, the big-caps did not really do so badly. It was really Cisco and the other 90% that provided most of the downside.
