Economics for The Week Ahead: Very Light Week (GOOD!)

There will only be a few data-points that are revealed for U.S. economics this week. Good news as the start of earnings season blasts off on Tuesday with Alcoa (AA) reporting after the close.

Perhaps the most important of the lot will be import prices. This will give us a further read on the cost of goods that make up part of the margin component for manufacturers. It is also a look into CPI and PPI. Last month there was a significant drop (-0.90%) from the prior month. Much of this was due to the lower cost of oil and commodities. Maybe some of the recent moves to become less reliant on foreign oil is paying off – finally.
